Clinical Nurse Specialist – Stomal Therapy
Location: Hutt Hospital
Contract: Permanent, Part time 0.8fte, working weekdays between 8am and 4.30pm

About the Role
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Stomal Therapy provides specialist nursing care and support for people living with a stoma. The focus of the role is to help patients develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to manage their stoma, maintain their independence, and achieve the best possible quality of life.
Working across both inpatient and outpatient settings, you will provide expert clinical advice, education and support to patients, whānau and healthcare professionals. You will contribute to the ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based practice, helping to ensure high-quality care and positive patient outcomes. This service is available to people of all ages and includes those who have a temporary or permanent stoma, as well as individuals preparing for surgery where a stoma may be required.
As an experienced nurse, you will play an important role in supporting service development through contributing to clinical pathways, protocols and guidelines in line with national standards and the Transitional and Support Services Stomal Therapy Services Tier Three Service Specification (DOM 103).

About the Team/Service/ Location
The Stomal Therapy Service is part of the Specialist Community Health Nursing Service and consists of a Clinical Nurse Specialist Stomal Therapy (0.8 FTE) and dedicated District Nursing Stoma Support (0.8 FTE).

About you
You will be a registered nurse with a relevant postgraduate qualification and hold, or be working towards, an Expert PDRP level.
You will bring at least 4-5 years' post-registration nursing experience, ideally within community nursing, surgical nursing, or a related specialty area.
Previous experience in stomal therapy would be advantageous, however we are also interested in hearing from nurses with relevant clinical experience and a strong understanding of surgical patient care and the pathophysiology associated with stomal procedures.
You will enjoy working collaboratively with patients, whānau and multidisciplinary teams, and have the ability to build positive working relationships quickly. Strong organisational and IT skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a full or restricted driver's licence are essential.
