About the Role
This ACNM role in ICU is a dynamic, rewarding, and full of variety. As part of the ICU leadership team, the ACNM helps coordinate care in a busy, high-acuity environment—supporting staff, managing clinical priorities, and ensuring our patients receive safe, high-quality care. The role involves everything from overseeing staff allocations and responding to complex situations, to working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team. It’s a role that requires you to be calm under pressure, have strong decision-making, and a supportive leadership style.
Beyond the day-to-day clinical work, ACNMs are involved in quality improvement, policy development, and supporting staff education and development. Whether it’s contributing to a new initiative, mentoring a new team member, or helping improve processes, there's plenty of opportunity to shape how the unit runs and how care is delivered. No two days are the same, but every day brings a chance to make a real impact—for patients, whānau, and the ICU team. The salary range for this role is NZNO MECA, $116.040 - $127.674 - pro rata for part time.

It is a thriving and expanding unit which now offers renal dialysis. We provide excellent care to both intensive care and high dependency patients. It is a supportive environment that encourages openness, honesty and inclusiveness and with opportunities for educational development.
About you
The unit will require someone who can provide holistic care and an understanding of Te Tiriti O Waitangi. You will require at least four years ICU experience within the critical care setting within New Zealand and have the ability to integrate into a functional team. Be a dynamic and forward thinker and be able to work on projects within the senior nursing team. This role is based at Lower Hutt Hospital. You will have a particular focus of the ACNM portfolio on the key accountability of workforce development for the next 6 – 12 months.
