Associate Clinical Nurse Manager - Medical Ward

About the Role
The Associate Clinical Nurse Manager (ACNM) position is for a 12 month fixed-term part-time (0.9 FTE) position to cover parental leave. It could be a secondment position, if this is supported by the service you are currently employed. It is an opportunity for staff to step up into a senior leadership role and become part of our senior nurse leadership team.
The ACNM enables an effective, safe practice environment through providing clinical and professional nursing leadership, coaching and monitoring standards of practice. The role requires the use of expert knowledge, role modelling and skill in the management of patients providing direct patient care as required.
The Medical Ward at Hutt Hospital is a supportive and collegial environment, where you’ll be well-supported by the Clinical Nurse Manager and a team of experienced ACNMs, as well as the expertise of specialist nurses, including our Stroke Clinical Nurse Specialist and Complex Discharge Specialist Clinical Nurse.
This role is very much a team approach. You will provide leadership and coordination to our dedicated team of nurses and healthcare assistants, working together to deliver high-quality care You’ll work closely within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to maintain patient flow and ensure timely, safe discharges.
About the Team/Service Location
This position is based the Hutt Hospital in the Medical Ward. The Hutt Hospital Medical Ward is a 54 bedded unit that provides secondary general medical inpatient services to patients aged 15 years and older. We provide inpatient services for diagnosis, assessment, treatment, management and appropriate referral for acute, sub-acute and chronic medical conditions. Secondary general medicine covers a wide range of acute, sub-acute and chronic illnesses and multi-system disorders. We also provide care to patients who are at end of life and those who wish to access Assisted Dying and are unable to access this in the community.
About you
To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate excellent skills in communication, clinical leadership, collaboration, and:
- Be an RN with at least 3 years of Medical Ward experience
- Current Nursing Annual Practise Certificate
- Be a highly motivated and enthusiastic RN with the ability to motivate teams
- Excel in organisational skills and coordination, be able to multi-task
- Communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to support the team in service delivery
- Contribute to quality improvement, auditing, continuous service improvement and be able to find solutions to problems
- A high level of professionalism and able to maintain excellent relationships
- Open to new ideas and alternative ways of working
