Cleaning Supervisor

About the Role 

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Cleaning Supervisor to join our cleaning team at Hutt Hospital. This role includes afternoon and weekend work and involves leading cleaning operations to ensure our high hygiene and cleanliness standards are maintained across the hospital.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support cleaning staff to deliver high-quality results.
  • Ensure all rostered shifts are covered, including arranging cover for absences.
  • Respond promptly to urgent cleaning requests from clinical areas regarding discharge or isolation cleans.
  • Conduct regular cleaning audits and support staff training in Cleaning Protocols and Infection Prevention & Control.
  • Oversee equipment care, supply levels, and compliance with health and safety standards.

This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, rostered and rotating shifts. The salary range is $66,669 - $72,864. If you’re a hands-on leader who takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming hospital environment, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Team/Service Location 

The Cleaning Service sits within the In-House Services Group which is part of the wider the Non-Clinical Support and Delivery Service. The Non-Clinical Support and Delivery service provides a range of essential non-clinical services that enable the effective and safe delivery of the District’s clinical services. These include security, orderlies, catering, cleaning, administration, clinical coding and records, operational contracts management, fleet management, and sustainability.

The Cleaning Service plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment across Hutt Hospital, supporting high-quality patient care and infection prevention practices.

About you 

  • Experience in supervisory roles and cleaning operations, demonstrating a strong work ethic. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, characterised by honesty, integrity, and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Capable of developing a team roster and adapting to changes as required. 
  • Leads by example.
  • Hold a NZQA Level 3 Qualification or equivalent experience in the cleaning industry, along with mid-level computing proficiency.
