Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

This can be a part- or full-time (24-40 hours per week), permanent senior clinical pharmacist position.  This role will encompass both ward-based clinical and dispensary activities, with the support of dedicated pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The role includes participation in ward rounds, medicines reconciliation, discharge counselling, dispensary services, and promoting the safe and quality use of medicines.  Potential areas of clinical service include ICU/HDU, medical, speciality surgical, paediatrics, etc. You would be expected to provide high-quality, effective clinical pharmacy services with a focus on improving patient outcomes and ensuring optimal medicines utilisation.

Although the primary site of this position is at Hutt Hospital, it is possible that you may be needed at the other District hospitals for specified periods of time.

The pharmacy team is well respected by clinicians, nursing staff, and senior management across the organisation, and is constantly looking at ways to improve the service and care it delivers.  We provide a comprehensive pharmacy service throughout to the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District, which includes a clinical service, dispensary and logistics service, and a quality and risk service. There is also an aseptic production service at Capital and Coast Hospitals (Wellington and Kenepuru). Through these services, we aim to improve the quality and effectiveness of prescribing, supply and distribution of medicines throughout the Capital Coast and Hutt Valley District.  Our teams value professional growth, and emphasises clinical development and medicines optimisation for our patients.

Moū – About you

You are a pharmacist with at least four years of clinical experience (hospital experience required).  You will need to be registered as a pharmacist in NZ, or eligible to register.  You are highly self-motivated, enjoys working with other health professionals, and can demonstrate effective teamwork and communication.  You are also keen to share your clinical experience with the rest of the pharmacy team, as well as other healthcare professionals.
