Location: Hutt Hospital

Service: Community Older Adults, Rehabilitation and Allied Health Service

Contract: Permanent - part / full time (30 - 40 hours per week)

About the role

A Community role that can be tailored to the development of newer graduate or to the interests of an experienced Physiotherapist.

Te Herenga Tangata is our Community Older Adults, Rehabilitation and Allied Health team including 30 staff across a range of Allied Health disciplines, along with Nursing staff, and we have close working relationships with our medical team.

The Physiotherapist in this position will have eight Physiotherapy colleagues within the team and be linked into the broader Physiotherapy department, participating in the in-service programme and supported by the Physiotherapy Professional leader.

In our community you will be seeing people with a variety of needs including falls prevention training, mobility assessments, input for people post- surgery and for people living with long-term conditions. We can also give you some people with rehab needs if that would be of interest.

Along with your direct practice, you’ll have the opportunity to be involved in quality improvement work, both at a team and wider service level as we continue to develop our models.

We need someone with excellent communication and time-management skills, who enjoys working within a team, and is able to quickly develop positive relationships with a variety of hospital based and primary care professionals.

Skills and Experience

As the successful candidate you will be required to be an NZ Registered Physiotherapist with a current APC, drivers licence and experience relevant to the role.   We provide an exciting and dynamic inter-disciplinary team environment, a diverse and rewarding caseload with a broad range of areas to develop into, regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development opportunities.

We are looking to develop a culturally diverse team and strongly encourage applicants of all backgrounds with the right skills to consider applying. We will be continuing to develop the way we work with Maori and Pacific people and would value more applicants from these communities. If you’re not sure whether this is the right role for you, or just want to find out more about opportunities within the DHB, we’d love you to get in touch.
