Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

We are a mixed adult/paediatric urban district ED seeing 47,000 patients per year with an admission rate of 25% and we are supported by a 16 bed Assessment and Planning Unit, as well as excellent medical and surgical teams.

The Hutt Hospital is also the regional centre for Burns and Plastics. Our department is part of the emergency medicine sub-regional training program with Wellington Regional Hospital, has 18 junior staff and is accredited for 12 months registrar training. Staffing has recently increased for both senior and junior medical staff, nursing and administration.

We are committed to clinical excellence in all disciplines and Senior Medical Staff are encouraged to take part in clinical audits and peer-reviews to ensure quality clinical care is provided.

We would consider offering a Medical Officer of Specialist Scale (MOSS) position to a suitable candidate. 

Moū – About you

  • Vocationally registered in Emergency Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
  • FACEM or equivalent qualification and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
  • Relevant training and experience 
  • Be able to demonstrate collegial working relationships with multi-disciplinary team
