Dental Assistant
Location: Hutt Hospital
Contract: Permanent, Part Time 0.6 FTE (24 hours per week)

About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated dental assistant with a can do attitude to work in our busy dental department. The hours will be 8.00am to 4.30pm 3 days a week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. You will be responsible for chairside support to our dental clinicians, ensuring all instruments and equipment are set up for each patient. You will sterilise equipment and ensure that your surgery is clean and adhere to the hospital cross infection policy. You will be required to attend theatre sessions in our main hospital operating theatre. Help may also be required with the dental administration team.
About the Team/Service/Location
We are a busy hospital dental department that offers services to eligible low income adults and medically compromised patients within the Hutt Valley area and on some occasions to the outer regional areas as we are a regional service for Oral & Maxillofacial patients. The team consists of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons, Registrars, Senior Specialist Dentists, House Surgeons, and Department Administrators. We are a friendly team that pride ourselves on being patient focused and delivering to the needs of our patients.
About you
- Ideally will have previous Dental Assistant experience - but training will be given for the right candidate
- Ideally have knowledge of Infection Control procedures and practices
- Be punctual, polite and reliable
- Strong team player
- Have the ability to make patients feel comfortable and put them at ease
- Relate to all walks of life
- Excellent multi-tasking skills
- Are familiar with and have experience with using computers i.e outlook
- Be able to work well under pressure and think on your feet
- A can do attitude who always goes above and beyond
