About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Radiology Services at Hutt Valley Hospital. The Radiology Department at Hutt Hospital is part of the Hospital Operations Group of the Capital, Coast & Hutt Valley district.

The Radiology Department serves the population of the Hutt Valley and Wairarapa areas. The Department receive a wide variety of clinical referrers, including regional Plastic Surgery and Rheumatology services as well as referrals from 2 Emergency Departments providing X-Rays, Ultrasounds, MRI and CT scans.

Health Care Assistants work mainly in CT and Ultrasound to assist with Workflow and Patient Care. 

About the Team/Service/ Location

The Department is a friendly, professional and dedicated team of approximately 80 staff; with a “Can Do” attitude who ensure the best possible care for our patients. The department includes: Radiologists, Sonographers, Medical Imaging Technologists, MRI Technologists, Nurses and Health Care Assistants, Administration/Bookings Team, and Data/IT/Quality staff.

improvements and constructive relationships with clinical colleagues. The Radiology Department also hold International Accreditation New Zealand (IANZ) accreditation. This role is based at Lower Hutt Hospital.

About you

The HCA contributes to the successful operation of the nursing/ midwifery team by collaborating and working alongside the Inter-disciplinary team, Registered Nurse (RN) or Midwife (RM) to meet the patient/client needs. 

A.Essential Qualifications / Accreditations / skills and experience:

Health and Wellbeing: Health Assistance Level 3 or equivalent or prepared to complete within specified timeframes 

B.Someone well-suited to the role will place a high value on the following

Previous experience in a health care setting desirable

A friendly, caring and empathetic manner

The ability to act calmly and quickly in emergencies

The ability to follow instructions

Good communication skills

The ability to deal with sickness and distressing medical situations
