Intensive Care Medicine (Intensivist) Fellow
Location: Hutt Hospital
Service: Intensive Care Unit
Contract: Fixed term (12 months Feb 2027), part time (Monday & Tuesday with on call commitments)
Salary: As per ASMS SECA

About the role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced doctor to further develop advanced skills in intensive and high dependency care within a supportive, growing service.
As an ICU Fellow, you will work alongside experienced intensivists and the wider multidisciplinary team to assess and manage critically unwell patients. You will participate in clinical reviews, ward rounds, procedures, handovers and the acute roster.
The role offers broad clinical exposure, structured supervision, teaching opportunities, and involvement in audit, quality improvement and service development.
About the service
Hutt Hospital ICU is an eight-bed intensive and high dependency care service providing care for medical, surgical and regional specialist patients. Our team works closely across medical, nursing, allied health, PARS and MET services. We value teamwork, open communication, teaching and continuous improvement.
The service
is developing its capability, including acute haemofiltration, 24/7 PARS
support and progression toward recognition as a Level 2 ICU. You will join a
friendly, collaborative team committed to safe care, professional development
and better outcomes for patients and whānau.

About you
- Registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- Relevant postgraduate experience and training in
intensive care, anaesthesia, emergency medicine, acute medicine or a related
specialty
- Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- Relevant experience and training
