Nurse Educator District Nursing
Location: Hutt Hospital
Contract: 12 Month, Fixed Term, 0.5 FTE

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Nurse Educator team in a newly established 0.5 FTE fixed-term role supporting District Nursing. You’ll play a key part in building capability, supporting clinical excellence, and promoting professional development across the service.
About the Team
The District Nursing team provides essential care to patients in their homes, helping prevent hospital admissions and supporting safe discharge. The service delivers increasingly complex clinical care in a community setting, requiring high levels of skill, autonomy, and clinical judgement.
This team includes experienced Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, and Health Care Assistants, all working collaboratively to deliver safe, person-centred care. The Nurse Educator will work closely with the team to provide tailored education, clinical support, and development opportunities.
You’ll be part of a wider Nurse Educator team with dedicated Education leadership, and report to the Charge Nurse Manager for Education. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence practice, support staff, and contribute to high-quality care delivery in the community.
About you
The preferred candidate will need to have:
- Nursing Council of New Zealand Registration and current APC
- A minimum three years post graduate nursing experience with expertise in District nursing
- Experience in coaching and teaching and proven ability to engage people at all levels
- A commitment to applying principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft office software
- A current PDRP and working towards Senior PDRP
- Post graduate qualification in nursing and adult education is desired
