Nurse Practitioner – Nurse Practitioner Intern

About the Role
Intern Nurse Practitioner role x2 0.8FTE
The Nurse Practitioner Intern role is a trainee role, responsible for combing advanced nursing knowledge and skills with diagnostic reasoning and therapeutic knowledge to provide patient-centred healthcare services including the diagnosis and management of health consumers with common and complex health conditions. You will work collaboratively, providing advanced clinical expertise and leadership to provide an individual and population-based approach to meet healthcare needs; while under the supervision of a current Nurse Practitioner, or credentialed Specialist practicing within the Hutt District Emergency Department.
The successful candidate must be either; accepted onto the Nurse Practitioner training programme (NPTP) or working towards completing their post graduate study in 2026/2027.
This is a secondment position at 0.8FTE (32hours per week) on a rotating roster for 18 -24 months (dependent on start date)

About you
- Comprehensive knowledge of the NZ health system, the District environment, systems and processes.
- Knowledge of the trends and emerging issues for the nursing profession.
- Minimum of four years’ of clinical practice within the defined scope of speciality practice.
- Has experience in leadership, management and coaching and mentoring approaches.
- Experience and credibility within the healthcare team as a professional resource in the team
- Proficiency in advanced nursing procedures
- Exceptional attention to detail and time management
- Is a strong team player that has excellent communication and works collaboratively with others
