Occupational Therapist - Community
Our Occupational Therapy service provides assessment and intervention for patients/clients within the hospital or based in the community. Services are based in ED/MAPU, the acute wards, the rehabilitation wards, outpatient services and community occupational therapy
ABOUT THE ROLE
The role is 0.5 FTE (40 hrs per fortnight) in Community Occupational Therapy team. In this role you will primarily visit people in their own homes and provide occupational therapy assessment and intervention for clients presenting with a wide range of disability and age related impairments as well as those with long term personal health and medical conditions. You will have a commitment to working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, primary providers and NGOs to assist clients to participate in valued occupations and attain their goals.
This position is suitable for an occupational therapist with at least 3 years clinical experience who demonstrates sound clinical reasoning, excellent communication and time management skills and the ability to problem solve with clients and their whanau/support people. You will be able to work autonomously, manage a busy caseload and have a good working knowledge of complex equipment solutions.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience
- New Zealand OT Board registration and Current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Full NZ driver’s licence
- Enable NZ Accreditation in personal care, household management and basic housing modifications is essential.
- Enable NZ Accreditation in complex housing, wheeled mobility and postural management is desirable.
