Registered Mental Health Nurse, Hutt Valley Community Mental Health Team.
Location: Hutt South and Central Community Mental Health team based at 40-42 Queens Drive Lower Hutt
Contract: Full time – 40 hours per week (1 FTE) 8am – 4.30pm

About the Role
The Registered Community Mental Health Nurse role is to meet the needs of people and whanau accessing our services. The care is based on comprehensive assessment, ensures continuity, and is person/whānau centred, culturally appropriate and evidence-based. Quality improvement and patient safety is an important part of this role.
Key priorities of the role are to ensure care is
- Grounded in Te Tiriti ō Waitangi | Whakapapa ki Te Tiriti ō Waitangi.
- Informed by peers and those with lived experience | Ka whakamōhio e nga hoa me te hunga whai wheako ora.
- A welcoming, person and whānau-led approach | He huarahi manaaki, tāngata me te whānau.
- Timely access to services in the community | Te whai waahi ki nga ratonga i roto i te hapori.
- A strengths-based, trauma-informed and recovery focussed approach, using advanced therapy and evidence based holistic interventions | Mā te mōhio ka whai whakaaro .
About the Team/Service Location
Hutt South and Central Community Mental Health Services is the largest community based mental health team in Wellington, serving a diverse geographical area and a diverse population. We are centrally located with access to public transport, riverbank car park and Queensgate. Our service has a strong, dedicated and supportive team. The team is professional and committed to making a difference to the community it services and to supporting each other in their professional development. About you
We are looking for the following experience and professional requirements:
- An up-to-date annual practicing certificate (must have completed relevant postgrad qualifications related to mental health.
- At least 3 years’ experience working in a mental health setting, ideally in community mental health and addiction team.
- A strong commitment to care being provided in the least restrictive environment.
- Full Driver's License and ability to consent to full Police Vetting Check.
