Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Contract:  Permanent, Part time – 0.4 FTE

About the role

All nurses employed by Te Whatu Ora will have a Registration with the New Zealand Nursing Council and maintain a current annual practising certificate as a Registered Nurse.  Application onto the Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP) at proficient/expert level is required.

The RN will work directly with patients to provide assessment, care and other tasks as required using critical care knowledge.  Be able to provide an effective holistic approach which incorporates evidence based practise and excellence in nursing.

About the Team/Service/ Location

We are an eight bedded unit with a multi-cultural team who provide care to both adults and paediatric patients, with a specialty focus on head and neck/burns patients.  It is a thriving and expanding unit which is in the process of delivering dialysis.  We provide excellent care to both intensive care and high dependency patients.  It is a supportive environment that encourages openness, honesty and inclusiveness and with opportunities for educational development. This role is based at Lower Hutt Hospital.

About you

We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic registered nurse with an ability and passion to provide clinical expertise. 

You will have:

  • Have a minimum of 4 years critical care experience within the New Zealand care setting
  • A current New Zealand APC and the right to work in New Zealand
  • Current Advanced Life Support and Paediatric Life Support
  • A personal commitment to ongoing learning and development
