Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Location: Hutt Hospital
Contract: Permanent, Part-Time, Rostered and Rotating- variable 0.6 – 0.9 FTE

About the role
We are an eight bedded unit with a multi-cultural team who provide care to both adults and paediatric patients, with a specialty focus on head and neck/burns patients. It is a thriving and expanding unit which now provides the delivery of renal replacement therapy. We provide excellent care to both intensive care and high dependency patients. It is a supportive environment that encourages openness, honesty and inclusiveness and with opportunities for educational development. The salary range is MECA$81.683 - $106.739 for this role.
About the Team/Service/ Location
Over the last two years ICU has seen investment increase the bed status from four to eight beds along with the staff to support this uplift. The funding has enabled the unit to buy additional equipment and training to now be able to offer renal replacement therapy. The hospital operations group is one of six within CCHB district provider services. Specialities within the Directorate are at secondary and tertiary level with service provision for the district, the central region and wider regions.
Hutt Valley District is a tertiary referral centre for plastics, oral maxillofacial and burns patients with the ICU supporting these services. The majority of care provided in ICU is to burns, plastics, orthopaedics, general medicine and surgical patients. The unit does not manage major trauma patients, but we may be involved in preparing them for transfer to another hospital.
About you
The unit will require someone who can provide holistic care and an understanding of Te Tiriti O Waitangi. You will require at least three years HDU/ICU experience in adult care within a New Zealand setting. You will be able to integrate into a functional team and be able to contribute and care for patients independently after your orientation. If you have had prior experience with paediatric care this would be advantageous but not a pre-requisite.
- Three years’ experience with the New Zealand critical care setting
- Advanced clinical skills, including a current NZRC Core Advanced life support
- Able to collaborate with colleagues and other members of the team
