Registered Nurse - Medical Ward

We are the largest ward at HVDHB providing 54 acute medical beds, caring and providing essential cares to patients presenting with a variety of health needs. 


Our roles require you to have experience providing high acuity care for patients that present with a variety of illnesses and comorbidities such as diabetes, respiratory conditions, acute delirium, infection and stroke.

We work at varying levels with a wide range of skills and expertise within the ward and DHB, so an ability to develop and maintain relationships is paramount, along with experience delivering and implementing care plans taking an active role in discharge planning. 

You will need to be team orientated, have a high level of written documentation and excellent communication skills.

Our positions are rostered and rotating and we have options available for permanent and fixed term (0.9 FTE) contracts. 


  • Registered with Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse and hold a current practicing certificate.
  • Acute clinical nursing experience with a minimum of 2 years in clinical practice in a NZ hospital environment
  • Nursing skills that include but not exclusive to IV, CVAD, Bipap, High Flow, Picc line, tracheostomy
