Registered Nurse – Medical Ward
Location: Hutt Hospital
Contract: Fixed term up to May 2027 covering parental leave, Part Time 0.7- 0.9 FTE Rostered and Rotating, 3 positions available

About the Role
As a Registered Nurse with an interest in acute general medicine, you'll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute positively to a team. Well-developed assessment and organisational skills are imperative to this busy acute environment.
You will be provided with an orientation programme, and for those with a desire to learn ongoing professional development opportunities are available. We have a strong commitment to your ongoing professional development and achieving best outcomes for patients.
We currently have two fixed term, part-time positions available at 0.9FTE (72 hours per fortnight)). Shifts are rostered across Monday - Sunday; morning, afternoon and nights and flexibility to work all shifts is required.
About the Team/Service Location
This role is based in the Medical Ward at Hutt Hospital, a 54-bed ward caring for patients aged 15 and over. The ward provides care for a wide range of medical conditions, including acute, sub-acute, and chronic illnesses. Patients receive support for diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management. The Medical Ward also cares for people at the end of life and those choosing Assisted Dying who cannot access this service in the community.
The Medical Ward is a dynamic and fast-paced environment, supported by a friendly and collaborative team. You'll be well-supported by our Associate Clinical Nurse Managers (ACNMs), Registered Nurses (RNs), Health Care Assistants (HCAs), and Nurse Educators, all working together to provide excellent patient care.
About you
- Experienced Registered Nurse, recent acute New Zealand hospital experience is highly desirable
- Current Annual Practicing Certificate
- Strong assessment and communication skills
- Excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills
- Be someone who enjoys working in a team environment
