Registered Nurse – Outpatient Department
Location: Hutt Hospital
Contract: Permanent, Part Time (0.8 FTE Rostered and Rotating, Monday – Friday).

About the Role
Salary Range: $75,773 - $106,739 (pro rata)
An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse to join our Outpatient Department, with a primary focus on Ophthalmology. This role offers the chance to develop specialist skills in a highly technical and rewarding area of practice, supporting patients with a wide range of eye health needs. You will work in a fast paced, patient centred environment alongside ophthalmologists, technicians, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering compassionate, evidence based nursing care to patients with acute and chronic ophthalmic conditions.
- Supporting diagnostic and treatment procedures, including visual assessments, imaging, and minor interventions.
- Providing patient education on treatment plans, post procedure care, and long term condition management.
- Contributing to smooth clinic flow, high quality documentation, and continuous service improvement.

The Ophthalmology service is a skilled, supportive, and multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving vision and eye health outcomes for our community. We work collaboratively to provide timely, patient centred care across a range of outpatient clinics. - Current Registered Nurse experience within the New Zealand healthcare setting.
- A strong clinical foundation and willingness to develop specialist ophthalmic skills.
- Clear, compassionate communication with patients, whānau, and colleagues.

- Respect for diverse backgrounds and a commitment to culturally safe, equitable care.
