Registered Nurse – Surgical Admission and Day Surgical Unit
Location: Hutt Hospital
Contract: Permanent, FTE 0.8, Monday - Friday

About the Role
Are you a nurse who thrives in a fast paced, patient focused environment? Do you enjoy working with independent patients and supporting their surgical journey? If so Surgical Admissions and Day Surgical Unit (SAU/DSU) at Hutt Hospital might be perfect for you.
At SAU/DSU, we care for patients from the preparation for surgery on the day of surgery, to their post operative journey in preparation for discharge. Our patients come from all the surgical specialities at Hutt Hospital – ENT, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Maxillofacial and Plastic surgery.
We are a fast, high turn over unit with a supportive, strong team culture and we pride ourselves on delivering safe, efficient, compassionate care.
Our hours are 0700 – 2023 Monday – Friday.
About the Team/Service Location
The perioperative department plays a crucial role in the delivery of surgical care in hospitals. Its purpose and structure revolve around supporting patients through the entire surgical journey — from preoperative assessment, postoperative recovery, Day Surgical Unit and overnight stays in Second Stage Recovery.
About you
You would be a great fit for our team if you have the following traits:
- Works well in a small team
- Have Surgical, Orthopaedic, Paediatric or Plastic surgery background
- Strong communication skills
- Passionate about patient care
