Registered Nurse - Transit Role
Location: Hutt Hospital
Contract: 0.6 FTE Permanent Part time Rostered and Rotating – no nights

About the Role
Integral to hospital flow, the Registered Nurse (RN) Transit role ensures the safe intra and inter hospital transfer of patients. Well-suited to this role is an experienced nurse who enjoys meeting new people and being on the move – including by road ambulance. This role offers the opportunity to quickly establish rapport with and support the care of patients requiring transfer to inpatient settings, diagnostic departments and other hospitals – both routinely and in the context of clinical urgency. The RN Transit also supports Variance Response Management hospital-wide as required.
About the Team/Service Location
The Integrated operations Centre (IOC), provides a comprehensive support service which comprises the Duty Nurse Managers, Variance Response & Patient Transfer, Transit Hub, Patient Travel and Allocation & Casual nursing. In normal working hours the service will support the directorate to meet their targets and plans and after hours will hold the delegated authority of the directorates to ensure the best possible use of resources both beds and staff, therefore effective running of the hospital.
About you
- You hold a current NZRC Core Advanced qualification
- A strong acute nursing background and subsequent skill set – ie. IV therapy, cannulation, recognition and management of patient deterioration
- Prior cardiac and paediatric nursing experience is advantageous
- Calm and professional under pressure. Adaptable within new environments and unexpected situations. Exceptional communication skills.
- A can-do attitude and a passion for providing excellent care – both autonomously and within a team
