Contract:   Permanent full or part time (rostered and rotating, no nights)

Salary:       As per NZNO MECA RN Step 3 - Step 7 $86,519 - $106, 739 pro rata for part time

Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

Transit Nurses ensure the continuity of exceptional nursing assessment and care for patients requiring transfer for admission, diagnostic procedures and transfer to specialist services - both within Hutt Hospital and externally.

Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team

The Integrated Operations Centre (IOC), provides a comprehensive support service which comprises of Duty Nurse Managers, Clinical Resource Nurses, Variance Response Team, Allocation and Casual staff, Transit Nurses, National Travel Assistance and the Transit Hub.

In normal working hours the IOC supports the directorates to meet their targets and plans, and after hours holds delegated authority of the directorates to ensure the best possible use of resources - and therefore the safe and efficient operation of the hospital. We are a fun and supportive team who collectively strive to achieve best patient outcomes.

Moū – About you

You will be an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of acute nursing experience. Excellent communication skills and a desire to provide care with empathy and professionalism are essential. You must have proven ability to work autonomously, provide comprehensive clinical assessment and respond efficiently to clinical change and/or deterioration. Prior cardiology experience is desirable.

The following are essential to this role:

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the significance of and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including how to apply Te Tiriti principles in a meaningful way in the nursing role.
  • New Zealand Resuscitation Council Core Advanced certification
  • IV cannulation and CVAD competency is highly desirable
