Social Worker For Hutt South Community Mental Health Team


Location:  Hutt South Community Mental Health team base 40-42 Queens Drive Lower Hutt

Contract:  Full Time, Fixed term – 40 hours per week 8am – 4.30pm (Twelve months contract)

About the Role

The role will also expose you to a multidisciplinary team environment, with various disciplines, such as psychiatry, psychology, and, nursing, working alongside you day to day.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Hutt South Community Mental Health Services is the largest community based mental health team in Wellington, serving a diverse geographical area and a diverse population. We are centrally located with access to public transport, riverbank car park and Queensgate. Our service has a strong, dedicated and supportive team culture, and an established Learning and Development Centre to tautoko your career development.  We also pride ourselves on having fun and celebrating ourselves and our professional milestones.

About you

We are seeking an experienced motivated NZ Registered Social Worker with current annual practicing certificate who is passionate about supporting Tāngata Whai ora in the community.

You will have

  • At least two years clinical practice preferable in Adult Mental Health and or Addictions. 
  • Focus on delivering high quality care for the patient/client/whānau.
  • Self motivated in developing clinical and professional practice.
  • A commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi (and application to health) and a willingness to work positively in improving health outcomes for Maori.

You will also need to have a

  • Current full NZ driver’s licence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Internet resources and e-mail.
  • A high standard of written and spoken English.
